Why Bin Laden Attacked America Barbara J. Stock

"In a recent Republican debate, one hopeful candidate made an astounding statement that indicated that he believed that Bin Laden attacked America on September 11, 2001, because, “We've been over there, we've been bombing Iraq for 10 years. We've been in the Middle East.” Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, made this stunning statement which effectively ended any serious possibility that Paul may have had at winning the nomination.

There are more than a few flaws in his line of thought. While the liberals cheered Rep. Paul, they overlooked that if the congressman were right, it would dispel their theory that Bin Laden and Saddam would not even speak to each other. Why would Bin Laden put his life and treasure on the line for a man he hated? But the dangerous part of that line of thought is the notion that men such as Bin Laden are only attacking Americans because “We’ve been in the Middle East.” It is sad that after all this time, someone running for the highest office in the land remains so ignorant about the enemy that America and the free world faces."
