A signal to attack?
U.S. authorities now say they have a transcript which they say is aimed at potential suicide bombers who he urges to carry out missions against the West.
Richard Clarke says he thinks the beard looks fake. The possibility of Osama shaving his beard to disguise himself was floated after 9/11; the FBI or CIA even produced an artist’s rendering of what he might look like without one but naturally I can’t find it anywhere online. Clarke thinks shaving would actually be counterproductive in the Pakistani tribal areas since it would make him stand out, not blend in, raising the slender possibility that he’s decamped to some other region.

Oh OK. Well since he "used to" work for the C.I.A. I guess they would know better than anyone else right? And everyone knows the C.I.A. would NEEEEEEEEVER lie to us... Come on people. Does anyone here have at least a few brain cells to rub together? The tape FREEZES not far into it and doesn't unfreeze until after "Osama" has said everything in it that references current events. That should raise an enormous red flag right there. The beard is another; consider: With the controversy that has been raised with every "Osama" tape, with plenty of people decrying them as fakes, don't you think he would place a priority on continuity of appearance, to avoid giving anyone more "ammunition" to dispute its authenticity? Furthermore, has anyone noticed the consistently convenient (for the Bush/Cheney regime) timing of basically every "Al Qaeda" tape?? This one was pre-announced a few hours after a Zogby poll showed that a majority of Americans want a new [read: REAL] investigation into 9/11. The last time Zogby did a poll on that, guess what was released a day later? Yes, another "Al Qaeda" tape.

A few days before the 2004 election "Osama" releases a tape in which he reiterates Democrat talking points so Bush can then bash Dems as being on the same page as Osama. Shortly before the illegal invasion of Iraq, "Osama" releases a tape praising Iraqis and asking martyrs to come to Iraq to fight the invader. Starting to see a pattern here? The "Al Qaeda" tapes come out when they do the most good for the Cheney regime, in most hamfisted fashion, which I presume is necessary in order that their propaganda doesn't sail harmlessly over the heads of the average American with his primitive, gradeschool intellect. Oh well, it just makes it that much easier for people like me to show that the whole "war on terror" is phony. A war for control over as much of the world's remaining oil and natural gas resources as possible. The real terrorists live in the Naval Observatory and at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
