Terror, Inc. -- Oliver North

"This week the State Department published its annual Country Reports on Terrorism. For those who want facts about the radical Islamic jihad being waged against the West, it's fascinating reading. For simpering solons in Congress, slithering back up Capitol Hill with their vetoed 'surrender supplemental,' it is bad news. And for those with any grasp of history, it's deja vu.
Twenty years ago this summer, a joint select committee of Congress convened to investigate certain activities of the Reagan administration. In the midst of what became a nationally televised circus, one of the witnesses observed: 'If you can't convince those who sponsor terrorism to desist from their support, then you are left to either protect yourself close in or to reach out to prevent and deter the act.'"

Counterterrorism Blog: Death, Confusion and Networks By Douglas Farah

"The recent announcement of the death of Muharib Abdul Latif al-Jubouri in Iraq, and the confusion surrounding the possible deaths of other leaders, highlight the importance of the network-based Islamist insurgencies in Iraq and elsewhere.
As the deaths of Zarqawi and much of the senior leadership of the core al Qaeda and Al Qaeda in Iraq have shown, individual deaths have a short-term impact.
But in the mid to long term, these deaths, while necessary in the struggle, do not do away with the underlying structures that give the groups' their viability. Al-Jubouri's alleged direct involvement in the killing of a journalist and others, and his directorship of the propaganda machine make him a valuable target, no doubt. But was likely replaced before his body was cold."

Images of Oppression By Fred Thompson

Sometimes, you read or hear something, and an image forms in your mind that just won't go away. For me, one of those images comes from the 2002 news stories about religious police in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, who beat young girls trying to escape a burning school. Because they weren’t wearing headscarves and black robes, 15 innocent girls were locked in a blazing building to burn while firemen watched helplessly.

Not all Saudis support this sort of extremism, but many Muslim radicals reject the premise that women should have even the most basic rights. These include the right to vote, to work, to drive, to choose one's own husband, to charge a man with abuse or simply to move about without male escort.

Hey GOP! Do Nothing On Immigration…This Year! By Bryanna Bevens

There’s a Bill on the Hill…or something of the sort…and it ostensibly pertains to immigration reform.

Wonder if that’s true!

They’re calling it the Middle Way: An immigration reform plan that is broad-sweeping and includes a "path to citizenship" in addition to some type of Guest Worker Program.

(When I say "they" are, I am pretty much referring to the same nonspecific "they" used in everyday conversation and yet never clearly identified. You know, "they" who supposedly saw your boyfriend at the movies with another girl or "they" who always seem to know the sordid events that happened after the office Christmas party. That they!)

The Middle Way is what they are calling it. It’s generally favored by Democrats, President Bush and so-called "moderate" Republicans. Then again, a "moderate" Republican is more often than not just a Democrat with good fashion sense. I don’t understand the need for an alternative category.

The Soviet Union is Rising in China by Slater Bakhtavar

The United States preoccupation with the grave situation in the Middle East has metamorphosed into a grand opportunity for Beijing. Once thought of as the “sick man of Asia” with land confiscated by the British, Dutch, Germans and Japanese, the newly reborn Asian Giant is extending its diplomatic networks and pursuing its military objectives without any real opposition. China maintains its primary focus is isolated to Taiwan, but it has quietly been expanding its aircraft, ship and missile capabilities signaling a direct challenge to United States interests. Outside a couple of trifle warnings about the Chinese military buildup, the United States has done little to safeguard the nation against the Asian Giant. The Chinese have turned hawkish towards the United States, devoting significant resources to both defensive and offensive measures against the world’s only super power. The Chinese have used the United States’ War on Terror to expand their military, intelligence capabilities, and influence. According to a report by the Rand Corporation the Chinese have assembled advanced strategies confrontation with the United States which includes “massive missile attack, computer network sabotage, and radical technological advances to build, a networked military loosely paralleling American initiatives to fuse intelligence and communications.”

Media Target: The US Military By Gerd Schroeder

The US military, the last bastion of credibility in the war, is now the primary target of the media and the enemies of the war. Almost like a plan. Not hatched as a coherent and complete arrangement in some dark, smoke filled room. No conspiracy is alleged. Rather, there is a certain momentum that is a product of groupthink. This confluence of widely-shared perceptions and attitudes has taken on a life of its own, the like-minded feeding off the ideas of others, then amplified in the media.

They smell blood in the water, and turn their attention to the military. Their reasoning is that if they can turn the American People against the military, then the war effort will become unsustainable. But they must be very careful in manipulating the story. They have learned their lesson from Viet Nam. The backlash from attacking the troops directly robbed them of much of their credibility. They will not make that mistake again.

Rudy Was Not Okay By John Tabin

The most memorable moment in last night's Republican presidential debate came when the candidates were asked about Roe v. Wade. One after another, everyone said what a great day it will be when Roe is overturned. Then came Rudy Giuliani's turn.

"It would be okay," he said, almost shrugging.

As Chris Matthews pressed him into elaborating that he'd leave it to a judge to determine whether it's appropriate to overturn precedent, the fundamental dilemma of the Giuliani candidacy was on full display. A Republican can't win without making peace with the pro-life movement. But Giuliani can't campaign as a pro-lifer without being rightly pilloried as an opportunistic flip-flopper. And while promising not to make Roe a litmus test is regular ritual in general elections, Giuliani actually means it: He'll appoint judges who would probably overturn Roe, but he's not going to make it a priority.

Bush Much Greater By Ben Stein

A little note on life and death in modern America and why George W. Bush is a much greater man than some think he is.

Last night I watched on CNN as news filtered in of a young mother in Arizona who had given birth in a gas station bathroom sink, then drowned her baby in that same sink -- then driven off to buy a high end car stereo nearby.

The commentators were hysterical. How could she do such a thing? How can anyone be so cruel and unfeeling and vicious? That's what the commentators were asking.

10 More Differences Between Liberals And Conservatives By John Hawkins

Last week, people seemed to really enjoy reading about 10 Differences between Conservatives And Liberals. So, this week, I thought it might be a good idea to point out 10 more issues about which conservatives are right and liberals are wrong.

10) Conservatives believe that the United Nations is a corrupt, anti-American, anti-Semitic talking shop that is largely hostile to American interests and is too incompetent to be much of use in areas where it's not. Liberals are internationalists who still have confidence in the UN. Moreover, they don't seem to be overly concerned about signing our country on to international schemes that are slanted against us, or about the fact that nations that are largely hostile to our interests like China, France, and Russia have a veto over any significant action that the UN can take.

Flying Imams Part of Greater Islamic Strategy? By Sher Zieve

Were the antics of the six Flying Imams merely additional tactics in the Islamic overall strategy of installing Shari’a law in the USA? It would appear so, according to some self-avowed moderate Muslims and the results of other recently exhibited actions by US Islamists and their followers. Let’s take a look.

With regards to Minneapolis Airport’s Muslim cab drivers, in 2006 the Muslim American Society of Minneapolis (MAS) issued a “fatwa” (religious edict) to the Minneapolis Airport Commission (MAC). The fatwa advised MAC that Islamic law prohibits Muslims from being around the sin of alcohol and Muslim cabbies refused to transport any passenger fares who had packed sealed alcoholic products in their luggage. Other Muslim taxi drivers at the airport also refused to transport passengers with dogs—including guide dogs. Muslims consider not only pork to be unclean but, dogs also.

An Open Campaign of Lies, Bribery and Treason By JB Williams

The full-court press to turn Iraq into the next Vietnam is a story of international intrigue, wholesale lies, congressional bribery and systemic partisan treason on a scale never before seen in the United States. The entire world is watching, including our enemies, and nobody is calling it a scandal?

Today’s Democrat Party has reduced itself to the most anti-American organization in the world, yet the American press has yet to question a single outright lie, shine a light on the wholesale bribery used to buy the anti-American votes calling for retreat, surrender and defeat in the war on terror, or point out a single overt act of treason, now common place among liberal Democrats.

Speaker Pelosi and Senate Leader Reid called their surrender bill a "$124 billion bi-partisan Iraq spending bill to support our troops". But every word of it was an outright lie!

It wasn’t a "bi-partisan" bill at all. It narrowly passed with a 51-46 vote in the senate with only two (2) Republicans voting YEA, Hagel (R-NE) and Smith (R-OR), and only one (1) Democrat voting NAY, Lieberman (ID-CT). The House vote passed along similar partisan lines and would not have passed at all had Speaker Pelosi not used over $28 billion in pork barrel bribes completely unrelated to Iraq, our soldiers or their mission, to buy the votes she needed from fellow corrupt Democrats in order to pass the bill

For the Public Good By Tony Rubolotta

Committing crimes on behalf of the "public good" has become a way of life for politicians on the left and is seducing many on the right. In its extremes, actions on behalf of the public good include genocide, but such extremes always have their beginnings with seemingly good intentioned and benign policies that pave the proverbial road to hell. When the public good is used to rationalize minor crimes, it is only a matter of time before major crimes can also be justified.

The politician however is only the willing instrument for the criminal intentions of the voters who put them in office. Seemingly innocuous crimes against property for the "public good" are the first steps toward more sinister goals. The politician’s craving for power is often disguised as concern for the public good with an ever expanding boundary of influence.

Liberalism Foments Contempt for America By Chris Adamo

A couple of news items appeared over the wires during the past week that should have generated outrage from coast to coast. Yet they were barely noticed. And insofar as the “mainstream media” took notice of them, it was only to invoke them as fuel for their anti-terror war, anti-Bush and ultimately anti-American crusade.

In Spain, Judge Santiago Pedraz “indicted” three American soldiers for “a crime against the international community” in relation to the death of Jose Couso, a Spanish reporter in Baghdad, during the initial invasion of that city. It seems the reporter was occupying a building in which Iraqi officials were under attack from American forces and was caught in the crossfire.

According to then Secretary of State Colin Powell, an investigation of the event showed that the soldiers did not use excessive force and were justified in their actions. Nonetheless, Pedraz demands they “stand trial” in Spain and has issued “warrants” for their arrest.

Nadia Abu El-Haj is an assistant professor at Barnard College who deserves more scrutiny from everyone interested in the degenerate methods by which great universities are destroyed.

The greatness of modern, western-style universities – the thing that separates them from all the academies that went before them – is that facts and theories asserted in universities must be supported by verifiable evidence. At the old academies, an appeal to Aristotle, Confucius, or the Bible was enough to support an idea. In the modern university, theories are judged by Occam’s razor, explanatory value, and verifiability of the supporting facts.

The "Fifth Columnization" of America By Frank Salvato

The progressive-left’s American Fifth Column is most often epitomized by the militant, bullhorn toting activist who, when not examined thoroughly, seems to be advocating for one “civil right” or another. We see them at the pro-illegal immigration protests, the anti-gun protests, the anti-war protests, and anywhere a group of people can lay blame at the feet of government and especially the Bush administration. But the American Fifth Column’s tentacles spread much wider and delve much deeper into our history and our society and recent events illustrate this as fact, rather than fiction.
The American Fifth Column is born out of socialist/communist ideology where the citizenry grows dependent on the government while the government increasingly legislates itself more control over the people.

The “insider” reports are very troubling and are purposely being downplayed by official sources and go largely unreported in the media. One case, however, can serve as an example of what is taking place all across the U.S. involving the procurement and disbursement of weapons to Muslim 'jihadists.' By setting forth a scenario of dire and immediate need for unprecedented change, the radical objectives of militant environmentalists and the political goals of anti-capitalists can be made to seem more acceptable and can be convinced of its necessity. Such institutionalization of fear has always been known as terrorism whether it is by a bomb or by working up the masses with lies. What was The Source's sin? On December 6, 2006, The Source printed a tasteless parody carol entitled 'O Come, All Ye Black Folk.' Europe (finally!) gets the War on Terror By James Lewis

The media on both continents naturally blame the Bush Administration for the breach; but there is no doubt that ex-Chancellor Schroeder and outgoing President Jacques Chirac exploited and worsened policy differences for their own political gain. Their aim was to separate Europe from America, in order to build up their own power by way of the European Union. Chirac was scheming to become the first full-term president of the EU. Schroeder kept his office by scapegoating the Bush Administration. The EU Constitution was supposed to carry it all over the top, and the European Union was supposed to sail into everlasting paradise. Breaking away from America was the key.

The Truth of Interracial Rape in the United States by Lawrence Auster

"Like Ahab's search for the Great White Whale, liberals' search for the Great White Defendant is relentless and never-ending. When, in 1988, Tawana Brawley's and Al Sharpton's then year-old spectacular charge that several white men including prosecutor Steven Pagones (whose name Brawley had picked out of a newspaper article) had abducted and raped the 15 year old was shown to be completely false, the Nation said it didn't matter, since the charges expressed the essential nature of white men's treatment of black women in this country. When the Duke University lacrosse players were accused of raping a black stripper last year, liberals everywhere treated the accusation as fact, because, just as with the Nation and Tawana Brawley, the rape charge seemed to the minds of liberals to reflect the true nature of oppressive racial and sexual relations in America.

The movie itself is good. It consists largely of interviews with various hard-line Muslims in North America and Europe who explain very clearly what they’re about: the Islamization of the societies in which they live, something to which they are commanded by their religion and which, as one of them happily puts it, their host societies have given them the “margin” to pursue. Alongside these very confident and articulate exponents of sharia, several moderate Muslims, the heroes of the movie, are featured. In a telling pattern (the significance of which the filmmakers themselves don’t seem to catch, see below), after the movie describes and interviews each of these moderates, we are told that the entire Muslim community in the city where each moderate lives is against him, is hostile to him, and sees him as not a true Muslim. In one instance, the moderate Muslim in Paris has a 24 hour a day security detail to protect his life from his fellow Muslims who he revealed in a film he made about them."

Groups including MEChA and the Mexica Movement also demanded all US citizens of European ancestry be deported. Bear in mind, these demands are coming from illegal entrants to our country—not legal ones.
But then, hordes invading countries have historically issued demands. The only thing that is new, this time, is that hungry-for-votes US politicians are listening to them. “Anything for power and anything for a buck,” appears to be the politicos’ mantra. The following paragraph from the piece has been excerpted and is the subject of comment on many political web sites already:

'General Petraeus is a wonderfully commanding figure. But if the enemy is in the nature of a disease, he cannot win against it. Students of politics ask then the derivative question: How can the Republican party, headed by a president determined on a war he can't see an end to, attract the support of a majority of the voters? General Petraeus, in his Pentagon briefing on April 26, reported persuasively that there has been progress, but cautioned, 'I want to be very clear that there is vastly more work to be done across the board and in many areas, and again I note that we are really just getting started with the new effort.' Is Global Warming a Sin? By ALEXANDER COCKBURN

In a couple of hundred years, historians will be comparing the frenzies over our supposed human contribution to global warming to the tumults at the latter end of the tenth century as the Christian millennium approached. Then, as now, the doomsters identified human sinfulness as the propulsive factor in the planet's rapid downward slide.

Then as now, a buoyant market throve on fear. The Roman Catholic Church was a bank whose capital was secured by the infinite mercy of Christ, Mary and the Saints, and so the Pope could sell indulgences, like checks. The sinners established a line of credit against bad behavior and could go on sinning. Today a world market in "carbon credits" is in formation. Those whose "carbon footprint" is small can sell their surplus carbon credits to others, less virtuous than themselves.

Hizballah's TV station immediately began airing its usual mix of vitriol and self-congratulatory propaganda.

Once again, Hizballah and its likes just do not get it. They fail to comprehend that democracies confront their setbacks, learn from them and make sure to be better prepared in the future, that admission of mistakes is not a sign of weakness, but of strength, of firm and healthy resolve.

The Commission, like most Israelis, did not question the basic justification of last summer's war -- if ever there was a justified, defensive, war, this was one. Hizballah had long sought a clash with Israel, indeed, repeatedly tried to provoke one through ongoing border incidents and attempts to kill or, even better, kidnap Israeli soldiers. "

Classical Values :: Racist history of dog control?

"In Clayton Cramer's important 1993 essay, The Racist History of Gun Control, the author makes note of another sad fact of history. Not only was gun control rooted in racism, but the racists who imposed it on black people also imposed draconian dog control:
The perception that free blacks were sympathetic to the plight of their enslaved brothers, and the dangerous example that 'a Negro could be free' also caused the slave states to pass laws designed to disarm all blacks, both slave and free. Unlike the gun control laws passed after the Civil War, these antebellum statutes were for blacks alone. In Maryland, these prohibitions went so far as to prohibit free blacks from owning dogs without a license, and authorizing any white to kill an unlicensed dog owned by a free black, for fear that blacks would use dogs as weapons. Mississippi went further, and prohibited any ownership of a dog by a black person.[5] (Emphasis added.)
While dog control is admittedly peripheral to Cramer's central argument about gun control, common sense suggests that if the goal is to keep people in a state of subjugation and defenselessness, dog control would be at least as important as gun control.
It might even be more important. "

"Listening to the far-left’s cries for impeachment one can seriously believe that the United States has become akin to fascist Germany. They seriously believe people are being rounded up in the middle of the night because they “spoke out”. Never mind not one single example can be mentioned.
Today the California Democratic Party passed a resolution calling for impeachment. This is significant because the California Democratic Party is no small organization.
The unfortunate thing is, many claims they make for Bush’s “crimes” are either not crimes or not true. While I’d prefer my elected leaders to not lie to me, there is nothing illegal about it. That, and whether or not he used false information, the fact that he was wrong does not prove he lied. In fact, if one actually reads the Downing Street Memo, they’d realize Bush genuinely believed the information he used. Being wrong is not a crime."

Electoral politics? By Alan Keyes

"Because our understanding of politics has been corrupted, we cannot discuss what threatens our political sovereignty until we free ourselves from the effects of that corruption. It's as if we are looking at our political life through lenses or panes of glass that obscure and distort everything we see, including the nature of our own actions.

Thus, though the very possibility of electoral politics derives from moral premises that justify and require self-government, we are led to consider our political choices without regard to those moral premises, as if economic and other material consequences are the only proper subjects of political life.

Why do the American people accept this approach, when it so evidently undermines their claim to political sovereignty?"

Where are the liberal non-Muslims? By Frank Gaffney, Jr.

"Since 9/11, many of us have wondered: Where are the moderate Muslims? If they are out there, why are we not hearing more, and getting more help, from them in the fight against our common foe -- the totalitarian Islamists?
In recent weeks in this space, I have chronicled the saga of an effort to answer that question. It took the form of a 52-minute documentary I helped produce for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's 'America at a Crossroads' series. The film, entitled 'Islam vs. Islamists: Voices from the Muslim Center,' features compelling stories of anti-Islamist Muslims who have had the courage to stand up to co-religionists who are using faith to accomplish political ends"

Dhimmis for Islam By P. David Hornik

"With secular Turks fearing a growing Islamic trend in the country, on Friday Turkey's military -- a staunchly secular institution that has saved the country from Islamism a few times in the past -- issued a none-too-veiled threat:

It should not be forgotten that the Turkish armed forces is one of the sides in this debate and the absolute defender of secularism. When necessary, they will display their attitudes and actions very clearly. No one should doubt that.

The concern is that Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul of the ruling, Islamist AKP party may end up in the presidency, described as the country's 'last bastion of secularism.' Gul's wife is a headscarf-wearer and he himself is considered anti-secular by many Turks. Though the AKP claims not to be Islamist, it has promoted religious education, banned alcohol in municipalities, and tried to remove a ban on headscarves in public places that goes back to the days of Turkey's pioneer of secularism, Kemal Ataturk."

The Collapse of American Culture by G. Robert Dieckmann

"A current article from Swedish writer, Fjordman, titled Jihad and the Collapse of the Swedish Model, presents a look at present day Sweden which will soon become a model for all of Europe and eventually the United States of America if it's allowed to continue. The problem in the United States will be even worse with two foreign factions fighting for control of the country, Islam, and the invaders from Mexico.
Forty some years ago, many Americans realized that population growth in America would soon exceed the ability of our natural resources to support it. We adopted new forms of birth control and brought our population growth under control. Now, over the past 15 years, invaders from Mexico have been illegally entering our country and cranking out babies like rabbits. As a result, population growth in America has increased ten fold and they're not even Americans. This year the population exceeded 300 million thanks to contributions from Mexico and liberal immigration policies."

Is the U.S. Government Out to Undermine English? by Newt Gingrich

"Our friend Paul Weyrich at the Free Congress Foundation had a distressing story last week for anyone who is concerned about the future of the English language in our country.
It's a story about a charity whose good works exemplify Christian-based dedication and compassion.
It's a story about an employer who tried to do the right thing -- to encourage its employees to learn and speak English.
And it's a story of a misguided federal agency that is using taxpayers' money to punish those who encourage English, rather than reinforcing English as the language of American success and cultural unity."

Europe's Islamist-Leftist Alliance by Adrian Morgan

"In 2004, David Horowitz published Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left, a seminal work based on the author's 50-year experience of the American Left. Since the book was written, the links between Islam and the left have become stronger, and not just in the United States. The global anti-war movements have naturally forged alliances between leftists and Islamists -- in short, a Black-Red Alliance.
One doesn’t need to look very hard to find evidence of this alliance; it permeates every aspect of European politics today. Scratch beneath the surface of any Leftist organization and you’re likely to find a radical Islamist movement scratching back. Behind every anti-war movement, you’ll find support for Palestinian terrorists and Islamic Jihad."

END RACISM: REJECT JACKSON & SHARPTON By: Gordon Bishop

"America is a disaster waiting to happen!
The Far Left race baiters have taken over America’s traditional culture and its now politically-correct economic system.
For example: It’s okay if Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton literally “blackmail” major corporations for massive amounts of money for their self-appointed causes that are dividing our nation into two separate Americas – Red and Blue states, conservative and liberal.
Liberalism is killing our culture.
Liberalism is Cancer.
Liberalism is Death – a Dead End!
Liberalism destroyed the Democrat Party.
Yet liberalism sees to be winning, especially for the Jacksons and Sharptons, who have hijacked the liberal media with their racist rhetoric.
Jackson received a whopping $700 million “settlement” from Toyota for their so-called “discrimination” against blacks, while Sharpton has own racist radio and TV shows that rake in he big bucks for him and his illegitimate followers.

Look what happened to old jock radio host Don Imus. He quoted three words from the black rap and hip-hop culture of the black music world (“nappy-headed hos”) and was immediately destroyed by the purveyors of racism, led by Jack and Sharpton.
This sickening black culture allows black men to demean black women, and approves of rap and other violent acts against black women, who are called “hos” (whores) and other disgusting names with the big “N” word. "

The Milksop Generation by Allan J. Ashinoff

Europeans often claim that Americans have a unique disposition that differentiates us from all the other people of the earth. This proclivity, it is said, so exudes from Americans that, when abroad, we are immediately identifiable. To a large number of Europeans, Americans are viewed as reckless myopic self-righteous cowboys. They call this perception the American swagger and Euro’s – like their liberal American pupils- are repulsed by it.When one thinks of the American swagger traits like confidence, self assuredness, power, and perhaps even a degree of moral superiority come to mind. But one word that has never been associated with America, the US Armed forces, the American people, or its leadership is the word coward. This feeling was thrust into the American social consciousness in the 1960’s and has remained hidden in shame for nearly thirty years. Today those who disgraced both themselves and their nation out of fear in the 1960’s are the ‘establishment’.

The Global Warming Debate By Tom DeWeese

As the skeptics score points, the political climate starts to change - With great fanfare, in March, Al Gore took Capitol Hill like a conquering hero as he testified on Global Warming before both houses of Congress. Fresh from conquests at the Academy Awards where his adoring Hollywood elites showered him with coveted golden statues for spreading their favorite propaganda, Gore was determined to turn his personal conquest into draconian federal law and ultimate human misery.

Gore's words to Congress were predictable. The earth is warming. The polar ice caps are melting. Polar bears are on the run. And it's man's fault. Solution? Ban or control human activities. The mantra of the religion of Global Warming is getting a little boring. It's quite possible, however, that Gore's appearance on the Hill actually represents the beginning of the end of his influence on climate policy rather than the start of a legislative tsunami.

Climate change hits Mars From The Sunday Times

Mars is being hit by rapid climate change and it is happening so fast that the red planet could lose its southern ice cap, writes Jonathan Leake.

Scientists from Nasa say that Mars has warmed by about 0.5C since the 1970s. This is similar to the warming experienced on Earth over approximately the same period.

Since there is no known life on Mars it suggests rapid changes in planetary climates could be natural phenomena.

The mechanism at work on Mars appears, however, to be different from that on Earth. One of the researchers, Lori Fenton, believes variations in radiation and temperature across the surface of the Red Planet are generating strong winds.

In a paper published in the journal Nature, she suggests that such winds can stir up giant dust storms, trapping heat and raising the planet’s temperature.

Fenton’s team unearthed heat maps of the Martian surface from Nasa’s Viking mission in the 1970s and compared them with maps gathered more than two decades later by Mars Global Surveyor. They found there had been widespread changes, with some areas becoming darker.

Mexifornia, Five Years Later By Victor Davis Hanson

In the Spring 2002 issue of City Journal, I wrote an essay about growing up in the central San Joaquin Valley and witnessing firsthand, especially over the last 20 years, the ill effects of illegal immigration (City Journal’s editors chose the title of the piece: “Do We Want Mexifornia?”). Controversy over my blunt assessment of the disaster of illegal immigration from Mexico led to an expanded memoir, Mexifornia, published the following year by Encounter Press.

Mexifornia came out during the ultimately successful campaign to recall California governor Gray Davis in autumn 2003. A popular public gripe was that the embattled governor had appeased both employers and the more radical Hispanic politicians of the California legislature on illegal immigration. And indeed Davis had signed legislation allowing driver’s licenses for illegal aliens that both houses of state government had passed. So it was no wonder that the book sometimes found its way into both the low and high forms of the political debate. On the Internet, a close facsimile of a California driver’s license circulated, with a picture of a Mexican bandit (the gifted actor Alfonso Bedoya of The Treasure of the Sierra Madre), together with a demeaning height (5’4”), weight (“too much”), and sex (“mucho”) given. “Mexifornia” was emblazoned across the top where “California” usually is stamped on the license.

Once You Have an Epithet, Why Think? by Frank from Queens

Daniel Johnson, writing in this past Thursday's edition of the NY Sun, discussed the growing threat of fanatical Mohammadism in Great Britain. What comes out in the article is that there are Caribbean immigrants who are converting to fanatical Mohammadism out of a hatred for their new home. But the thing that really struck me is how insane it is in Great Britain. This is clearly a country intended on suicide. The individual Mr. Johnson writes about left Jamaica, got British citizenship, made some sort of vow to destroy Britain, then went to Mohammedan countries and married women there, bringing them back to the U.K. and getting them citizenship.

Given current demographic and birth-rate trends in Great Britain, for the British government to do this, basically means that the country is suicidal. It is a country so bent on suicide that, even though bigamy is illegal in theory there, the Department of Work and Pensions has actually encouraged polygamist Mohammadists to collect and claim additional welfare benefits for their wives. For example, the law says there that if you were legally married to more than one partner in a country that allows this, then your relationship is called a "polygamous marriage". So what they're doing is saying, "if you were a polygamist in another country, we will bend our laws to accommodate you, because we do not want to offend you". The law of a foreign land supersedes that of Great Britain, simply because the government has a policy of not wanting to offend anyone.

The Opportunity of Political Heresies in Academia By Luke Sheahan

In The City of God, Augustine wrote that heretics, while potentially dangerous in their doctrinal heterodoxy, should be viewed by Christians as an opportunity to articulate and defend religious orthodoxy. The strange and varied heresies in the early history of Christianity threatened to snuff out religious orthodoxy by making converts of Christian believers. Their resemblance to Christian beliefs was nothing but a subtle perversion of orthodox Christian doctrines that could easily deceive intellectually unwary Christians.

In the same way, the rise of radical ideology in academia should be seen by those of us who adhere to conservative values as an opportunity to defend those ideas. Friedrich Hayek and others argued that communist professors should be expelled from the university because, if their views were implemented, they would undermine the institutions and ideas that provided the very freedom that allowed them a forum to speak.

An Islamist Connection to OKC Bombing By Wes Vernon

The mainstream media have gone AWOL again—this time by missing the complete story on the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. There are leads suggesting the bombing that killed 168 innocent American men, women, and children had been ordered by Saddam Hussein—then in power in Iraq, and possibly with the help of other Middle East terrorists.

Politically, the cover-up is bipartisan—spanning two administrations—Clinton and Bush 43. Political interests, with the spectator-like acquiescence of the major media, did not want it known there is evidence that Timothy McVeigh (executed in June of 2001) and Terry Nichols (now rotting in prison) had help from foreign sources.

Big Media Not Interested

Ignoring a huge story like this is bad enough. But at least two establishment outlets—the New York Times and CBS—affirmatively squelched it, albeit in different ways. The Times shut down an investigation that was hot on the trail of the story. CBS did not follow up on clear evidence of Middle East involvement. Why?

My Conversion to the Lutheran Feminist Faith By Mike S. Adams

Just when I thought everything was going so well in the Baptist Church, another church came along and swept me away. In fact, from the moment I logged on to www.HerChurch.org I realized I had to move to San Francisco to join Ebenezer Lutheran Church (ELCA). Now that I’ll no longer be Baptist I can have sex standing up without the fear that people will think I’m dancing.

Another advantage of ELCA is that it dubs itself "A home for women's spirituality” rather than a “house of God” (how boring is that?). It’s a sort of spiritual headquarters for the “Lutheran Feminist/Womanist Movement,” which exists to celebrate the feminine persona of the Goddess and “dimensions of the sacred as expressed in faith, worship, learning, mutual care, and acts of justice.” I assume their discussion of acts of justice omits the fate of places like “Sodom” and “Gomorrah.” Only a male God could be capable of that kind of justice.

Cho Was a Terrorist! By Joan Swirsky

"What’s the difference between Cho Seung-Hui and the many hundreds if not thousands of Palestinian and Islamic terrorists worldwide? It’s a three-word answer: choice of weapon.
Everything else is the same. All of them planned their mass murders meticulously by preparing carefully loaded weapons (either cars or, in Cho’s case, guns) intended to produce maximum casualties.

All of them were duly deliberate, plotting their grisly massacres to result in a contagion of helplessness, fear and panic.

All of them had malice aforethought, anticipating that their acts would have the widest possible ripple effect, which they did--for the victims and their families, society-in-general, and their governments.

All of them left behind their own self-aggrandizing manifestos, photographs, videos, and tape-recorded statements, the better to provide an acid-in-the-wounds punctuation mark to their bloodthirsty deeds.

And all of them had identical rationalizations, blaming their acts on the “Big Satan” America or her ally, the “Little Satan” Israel.

What is not similar? The only difference between Cho's terrorist act and those committed by fanatics in other countries, is the way the media react to terrorism."
