Global Warming’s Hysterical Predecessor By Stephen Kruiser

Long before Al Gore told us that polar bears were going to float through our deforested yards and dent our heinous SUVs, there was another global scare that got the media’s shorts all in a fever. Most young liberal voters don’t know anything about it because it started way back in the 1980’s, before a great many of them had benefited from a “yes” answer to their parents’ “pro-choice” dilemma.

Like global warming, this danger was going to kill us all unless we spent billions to fight and prevent it. How did we know the threat was serious? Because fine purveyors of information like Time, Newsweek and the UN told us it was, just like they do with global warming.
