In the name of rationality and reason By Marie Jon'

«Nothing can be more contrary to religion and the clergy than reason and common sense.» — Voltaire

We can reason and rationalize just about anything, including our lack of exercise and bad eating habits. We rationalize insensitivity to others' feelings because we live in a world that has become coarse and crude. Are we reasonable? Are we rational? How often does an alcoholic rationalize: «I can have one drink?»

Calderon’s Latest U.S. Visit: More Macho Mexican Meddling By Allan Wall

Mexican president Felipe Calderon has just returned from a trip to the U.S.

Wait a minute! Didn’t Calderon visit the U.S. just two months ago?

Yes, he certainly did. I reported on his February hobnobbing with the American ruling class in this article and this blog entry.

If you keep up with Mexican news, you also know that it’s not like Calderon has nothing to do in Mexico. There’s an ongoing political crisis over the desperately-needed reform of Mexico’s state oil monopoly PEMEX. In fact, filibustering opposition politicians have seized the podiums in both federal legislative chambers, forcing other legislators to meet elsewhere.

Is Media Missing Another Unsavory Obama Associate? Official Blogger a Communist? By Warner Todd Huston

The list of Barack Obama associates that hold views that clash with mainstream America is getting longer every day and now we can add another notch in the "anti-American" column of Obama campaign workers and supporters. This time we find that the Obama campaign's official blogger, Sam Graham-Felsen, has spent time in France participating in labor riots, has written for a socialist magazine, hung a communist flag in his home, and was a fan of Marx while at Harvard.

Democrats not Fit to Run America by Craig Chamberlain

Let's be honest, the party of Jackson, or even the party of Roosevelt is long gone. It has been replaced by the party of Obama, Pelosi, Dean, and Soros. It is governed by the most militant, activist, anti American, moonbat wing of the party. The wing that believes that 9-11 was an inside job, that believes eliminating FISA was bad for Bush so it must be good for the country, too bad if we can't track terrorists anymore. It believes that we must eliminate the modern global economy all in the name of the crackpot scinence behind global warming. Americans will one day be asked to surrender all of their freedoms in the name of saving the planet, and after all only a monster would be against saving the planet, so what they will mask as a request will really be a command.

Bitter Pill By George Neumayr

Never trust a campaign slogan that ends in a preposition. "Change we can believe in," reads Obama's pompous promise on his website. A quote from Obama hovering nearby seeks halfheartedly to flatter voters by suggesting this change will enlist their genius too: "I'm asking you to believe. Not just in my ability to bring about real change in Washington...I'm asking you to believe in yours."

A similar song and dance is contained in his bafflingly arrogant mantra: "We are the ones we've been waiting for." That apparently means whoever appears last is best -- the political equivalent to Darwin's theory of evolution.

Clinton falls behind in pledged delegates and gets caught in a lie about her Bosnia adventure, and the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. story reignites.

On Philadelphia radio, Bill Clinton accused the Obama campaign of playing the race card, while denying he said that a day later.

The chemistry of the atmosphere is changing, and there is a high-enough risk that "true believers" like Al Gore are right that world economies need to wean themselves off fossil fuels to reduce greenhouse gases, he said.

This phenomenon, characterized by a substantial reduction in the level of solar energy reaching the earth's surface is a proven global reality, the repercussions of which are immense: dropping surface temperatures around the globe coupled with ever poorer crop yields and profound changes to our oceans due to decreasing levels of ultraviolet light reaching both the land surface and into the upper levels of our oceans to spur photo-synthesis.

Democracy, if it rejected Jimmy Carter, must be evil. If it is evil then he will support the enemies of democracy.

Rising Euro-Muslim Tensions By Tony Blankley

Perhaps the greatest secular gift to the world by Judeo-Christian civilization is its seminal concept of the individual, which it raises above the tribe or the collective. In Genesis, we are told that man is made in the image of God. Deuteronomy tells us that "each human by his own sin is to be judged" and "do not punish children for the sins of their fathers." And of course, the biblical life and teachings of Jesus reflect the deep importance of the individual. Thus was planted in the soil of the West our uniquely heightened respect for the individual.

The Sky's Not Falling By John Stossel

"Mortgage Crisis," shouts the New York Times. The Times has used the term "subprime crisis" at least 11 times. Not in opinion columns -- in news stories.

The columns are worse. Paul Krugman writes: "A lot of the financial system looks like it's going to shrivel up and have to be rebuilt."

The "financial crisis," says Fortune's senior editor, "is threatening to bring down the entire system, with dire consequences."

When the current troubles aren't a "crisis," they're a "disaster". That's what John McCain called them, while Hillary Clinton prefers "crisis," saying, "This market is clearly broken, and, if we don't fix it, it could threaten our entire housing market."

Wait a second.

John Murtha is Sorry by Katie O'Malley

Representative John Murtha is one sorry man, and by sorry, I do not mean apologetic. His efforts to smear the military in the court of public opinion, the Marines in particular, has been elaborate, elongated and disgraceful. It is hard to fathom that this man was ever a member of a group that he seems to hold in such contempt. His distaste has such a powerful hold on him that, when asked on Nightline on January 2, 2006 if he would join today’s military, the Vietnam Veteran and Marine firmly answered, “No.” One can only assume the feeling is mutual.

Why the anti-jihad resistance is not about race By Robert Spencer

Here is yet another indication that, contrary to both the dominant mainstream and the race/ethnicity-based parties of Europe, the jihad is not a matter of race, but ideology. The dominant mainstream sees resistance to the jihad and Islamic supremacism as "racism," while the neo-fascist parties regard resistance to the jihad as required for the preservation of white Europe. But if it is all about whites and non-whites, what of a white convert to Islam like Suleyman Simon Keeler? The focus needs to be on the destructive ideology people like Keeler have embraced -- and the fact that he embraced it shows that talk of race and racism in this context is just a red herring. I've said it before, but like so many things in this struggle, I'm going to keep saying them until someone listens and probably after that as well. A race-based approach to the anti-jihad resistance is harmful in a number of ways:

That would have been fine if that's all the OHRC did, but out of the other side of their mouth they condemned the article for being racist and Islamophobic. Unfortunately they made these findings without holding a trial or hearing legal arguments or evidence from Maclean's.

Given that Mormon readers will probably recall my past references to a former candidate for the White House as Capt. But despite my admitted lack of sympathy for Mormonism, not since the Waco massacre have I been so completely appalled by an American government action. The recent kidnapping of 416 children from their Fundamentalist LDS parents by Texas Child Protective Service agents is a unconscionable abnegation of not only the United States and Texas constitutions, but a rejection of the very meaning of what it is to be an American. Scafidi, while not making a formal recommendation, observed that legislatures should consider the obvious answer: find ways to strengthen the family. Almost immediately criticism arose from various corners of academia, primarily questioning the “effectiveness” of marriage programs. In short, critics are in favor of pursuing any number of other programs, but are “skeptical” of any program focused on marriage. Spot the Trojan horse, part 2 :: Power Line

Max Boot and John Podhoretz each comment on the New York Times's long page-one story by David Barfstow on the Pentagon's public relations efforts, and each is worth reading. Boot writes:

Why did the Times decide this story is so important? After all, it’s no secret that the Pentagon–and every other branch of government–routinely provides background briefings to journalists (including columnists and other purveyors of opinion), and tries to influence their coverage by carefully doling out access. It is hardly unheard of for cabinet members–or even the President and Vice President–to woo selected journalists deemed to be friendly while cutting off those deemed hostile. Nor is it exactly a scandal for government agencies to hire public relations firms to track coverage of them and try to suggest ways in which they might be cast in a more positive light. All this is part and parcel of the daily grind of Washington journalism in which the Times is, of course, a leading participant.

Expelled - Ben Stein's Brilliant And Subversive Documentary By William Mayer

Darwin...Darwin...Darwin...you can almost hear Ben Stein muttering to himself as this subversive little documentary, "Expelled - No Intelligence Allowed," unfolds. Having opened only yesterday it has already left the piggies that feed at the trough of big science foaming at the mouth and staggering about in near apoplexia.

So outraged are the fascisti intelligentsia by Stein's work that as the film's website makes clear, "...the National Center For Science Education has taken the extraordinary and unprecedented step of building a website devoted solely to discrediting the...film..." an overtly political act.

Condemning the Central Value of Civilized Society by Alamgir Hussain

One wonders what would be the reaction of Muslims if a museum in Riyadh or Islamabad, or in any Muslim country, displays, for example, a Piss Muhammad photograph like the one of Jesus by American photographer Andres Serrano, which depicts a small plastic crucifix submerged in a glass of the artist's urine.

Displaying such as an art-work even in a European, American, Canadian or Australian Museum would be impossible - thanks to the super sensitivity of Muslim feelings. But Andres Serrano's Piss Christ photograph was exhibited in art galleries and museums of most Western countries albeit amid whining complaint from Christians. Complaints against its display were rejected on the ground of artistic freedom and freedom of speech. For example, when the National Gallery of Victoria displayed Piss Christ in 1997, a petition against its displaying by Dr George Pell, the Archbishop of Melbourne, was rejected by the court in support of the artist’s right to express his mind.

The Islamification of America Phyllis Chesler

As Americans, we have a long and legendary history of welcoming and assimilating immigrants. This includes granting political asylum to those in flight from political persecution. But, as Americans, we must also ensure that what has gone wrong in Europe—or what some are now calling “Eurabia”—does not happen here.

Moses brought the ten commandments, gave his people freedom out of bondage, and led them to the promised land.

The Turtle and Daniel Pearl :: TROP

Palestinians made a wonderful discovery when this rare, ancient sea
turtle was found off Gaza! (They quickly flipped the noble creature
on its back, kicked it around a bit, and then stabbed it to death).

Our picture and brief commentary on the sad story of a helpless sea turtle butchered on the beach by Palestinians desperate for sexual potency seems to have reminded some readers of other creatures slaughtered under the sword of Islam for the crime of being different.

Cultural Jihad: On Patriotism By ~Snooper~

Sadly, but SOP, the Leftinistra miss the entire point on the "lapel pin issue". It isn't about whether or not a politician does or does not wear a United States Flag lapel pin or not. The issue is about the why or why not a politician does or does not wear a United States Flag lapel pin.

The poor Leftinistra at Snakes and Snails always miss the point. Always. Always. Always. As a matter of fact and record, ALL Leftinistra miss the point. Always. Always. Always. Period. Bob Schieffer will always miss the point as will all socialists. They cannot help it because they will not face the issue of Patriotism. Patriotism scares them. Any Traditional Americana causes them great consternation and they must break out into some bizarre hive reaction to the very subject of Patriotism.

What else is there with Barack Obama? :: SAY WHAT YOU REALLY MEAN!

Do we really know enough about Barack Obama? Barack Obama's recent comments at a closed door fund raiser in San Fransisco may have done a lot to show us who he really is.
He said that You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothings replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.

Jeremiah Wright on estrogen By Melanie Morgan

Last Friday in this column I reported on a brewing scandal that would be front-page news on the New York Times if the developments had concerned anyone other than their hero: Barack Hussein Obama.

Instead, the new media was left to pick up and disseminate how one of Barack Obama's presidential campaign bundlers is Jodie Evans – a political ally to Venezuelan dictator, Hugo Chavez, and an advocate for Islamic militants.

Barack Hussein Obama and the Code Pink Connection :: Miss Beth's Victory Dance

And what do we have here? Through an email notice from Move America Forward, we find Barack Hussein Obama has ties to Code Pink and through Code Pink, to Hugo Chavez. Isn't that sweet.

Further, this particular connection is a campaign "bundler" for him, has been part of the reason Hollyweird has turned it's back on Hillary and gone to Barack Hussein Obama, and has generally been wreaking havoc for the campaign.

Her name is Jody Evans and she first appeared in reports from the Federal Elections Commission.

No ObamaNation Part 2: Disciple of Hate By Mark Alexander

Part One of this series, “Barack who?”, provided insights into how Obama’s tragic childhood formed the pathological foundation for his narcissistic ambition.

This essay examines how Afrocentric Liberation Theology and its message of hate have wedded Obama’s anger and ambition and defined his worldview. This radical belief system is, after all, a hybrid of black supremacist doctrine and “social gospel” Marxism.

Former President's visit with terrorists damages U.S. image By Jim Brown

Leading pro-Israel activist Gary Bauer is urging the U.S. State Department to take action to prevent former President Jimmy Carter from ever traveling abroad to meet with a terrorist group again.

Jimmy Carter has raised anger in Israel and the U.S. after hugging a Hamas official in the West Bank earlier this week and laying a wreath at the tomb of late Palestinian terrorist leader Yasser Arafat. Even fellow Democrats Howard Berman (California) and Gary Ackerman (New York), who serve on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, urged Carter not to meet in Syria with top Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal.

NYT's Failure to Understand Our Times Now Complete By Warner Todd Huston

To the New York Times there is only one issue in America: the war.

To show how pathetic The New York Times and John Broder are at analyzing the current political climate, all one has to do is read "Gore-Lieberman: A Hyphen Apart? Try Poles." Here the Times clearly reveals that they see but two types of American politician: the good guys against the war, and the evil ones for it. That's it. To the Times there is no other issue, no other divide, no other substantive thought, no other thing that separates our leaders one from the other. There is only the war and nothing else.

The Myth of the Fascist Establishment, Part I By Ian Jobling

Last year, feminist author and former Democratic political consultant Naomi Wolf published an article in The Guardian called “Fascist America, in 10 easy steps.” The article discussed the typical measures governments use to establish dictatorships, such as creating an exaggerated sense of danger from an enemy, building a gulag, and controlling the press. America, Wolf passionately argued, was in the midst of taking all of these measures in the name of the War on Terror. The enemy the Bush administration had invoked was Islam, our gulag was Guantanamo Bay, and our persecuted journalist was Joseph C. Wilson of “Plamegate” fame, whose wife was supposedly outed after he criticized Bush.
