COLD WAR COMMUNISM By: Doug Schmitz

It really wasn’t a coincidence that Joseph McCarthy and Ronald Reagan were exposing the Soviet threat right around the same time the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” emerged out of the dark shadows of Communist infiltration that lurked on Capitol Hill, in Tinseltown and U.S. newsrooms. With McCarthy in D.C. and The Gipper in Hollywood, the Left’s Communist Utopia was showing signs of cracks in its faulty foundation. That’s why McCarthy and Reagan – two of my favorite political heroes of the 20th Century – deserve tremendous credit for entering the political fray with conservative principles they wouldn’t rescind, and were willing to pay the ultimate price to defend.
