Prime Minister Gordon Brown — only four days in office — called for the public to remain on guard and cooperate with authorities. “The first duty of the government is the security and safety of all the British people,” Brown said. “So it’s right to raise the level of security at airports and crowded places.” (Houston Chronicle)
