McCain’s was essentially a vanity candidacy, driven by little more than his assumption that his own personal awesomeness entitled him to be President.

As bad as he was, he would have won if he was a true conservative who was faithful to his hero Ronald Reagan. Real conservatives didn't turn out to vote. I know I had issues voting for him as many times as he slapped conservative values. I voted for Palin in the end.
